LOOM: Foot treadle loom, Ghana
Taking the traditional foot treadle looms used for kente weaving, I partnered with weaver, Justice Galley, to modify existing looms. We created a wooden foot treadle system to replace manually lifted string heddles used for complex patterning. This new loom style allows for simpler training on complex patterns using a numbering system that the weaver follows with their feet.
